The City of St. Charles is a western Missouri city situated in St. Charles County. According to the Census Bureau, St. Charles had a population of about 65,000 people in 2010, making St. Charles the ninth most populous city in Missouri.

St. Charles was founded in 1769 and has been restored as one of the most beautiful suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri. Louis Blanchette, a French fur trader, founded St. Charles under the name Les Petites Cotes, meaning The Little Hills. In its early days, St. Charles was an important trading center among pioneers and was an important destination for tens of thousands of travelers due to its location on the Missouri River and its entrance to the western United States. In fact, St. Charles was such a popular city in the 1700 and 1800s that settlers and pioneers such as William Clark, Meriwether Lewis and Daniel Boone spent time in the city.

Today, St. Charles is the oldest city on the Missouri River and continues to play an important role in the United States as it is home to several businesses and corporations including Aspect, Our365, RX System, NewCo Enterprises, Patriot Machine and Client Services and is home to the regional offices of Coca-Cola Enterprises, Sysco, and American Freightways. The hills once occupied by Native Americans and settlers are now occupied by beautiful neighborhoods. Downtown St. Charles hosts community events for all ages and the century-old buildings along the city’s main street are now occupied by quaint local restaurants and shops, providing individuals a glimpse into the rich history of the city.

Residents and visitors of St. Charles should be prepared for weather conditions of all kinds. The summer months are usually warm and humid and the months of winter are cold and wet. Daytime temperatures vary from the upper-90s to the low-40s depending on the season. Central air conditioning units and heating systems will help keep individuals comfortable throughout the changing seasons in St. Charles.
